Awards
CCOR is proud to recognize trainees through a diverse set of awards that aim to highlight a wide breadth of achievement within Canadian ophthalmology. Applications for these awards for sent via email to our mailing list and are presented during the YO Symposium at the COS Annual Meeting.
CCOR Leadership Award
With support from the COS, this award aims to recognize the resident leaders in the field of ophthalmology who have advanced the profession by mentorship, advocacy, and initiatives. Senior residents who were strong role models and demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in their residency training are encouraged to apply. The selected resident will be recognized with an award certificate at the Young Ophthalmologist Symposium and a free registration to the upcoming COS annual meeting.

CCOR Research Proposal Award
With support from the COS, this award provides $1000 in funding over 2 years for a resident-initiated research project at any Canadian institution. To apply, residents must submit a proposal for a research study that has not yet been started. To be eligible, a resident must have the support of their supervisor, who is a Canadian faculty member and a COS member.

Alain P. Rousseau Award
The Alain P. Rousseau Award is open to residents in ophthalmology and sponsored by the Foundation de Maldies de l’Oeil. The objective of this award is to perpetuate the work of the founder of the Eye Disease Foundation, Dr. Alain P. Rousseau, and to stimulate clinical research in ophthalmology.

Orbis Future Leader in Global Ophthalmology Award
With support from the COS Foundation, this award is for Ophthalmology Residents or Fellows, registered in a Canadian university. The award recipient will receive a feature in Sightlines, the COS monthly newsletter, a feature story on Orbis Canada’s website, mention in Orbis Canada and COS social media posts, and recognition as the winner at the 2024 Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Toronto by Dr. Guillermo Rocha, COS Foundation President. The award recipient will also receive a complimentary registration to the COS 2024 Annual Meeting and Exhibition.

COS Foundation Medical Student Grant
With support from the COS Foundation, this award recognizes 10 Canadian medical students with a demonstrated Interest and commitment to ophthalmology. Recipients receive free registration to attend the COS Annual Meeting. This award is intended to help support medical students in pursuing their interest in ophthalmology.
